I experienced an unexpected delight while at Four Tree Island for a child’s birthday party. Unbeknownst to us, UNH’s A Cappella group Not Too Sharp was there, about to shoot their newest video. The group of young men siting on the rocks and enjoying a BBQ suddenly broke out in a chorus of beautiful voices, and we all rushed over to catch a glimpse of this impromptu concert.
When they found out we were celebrating a child’s birthday, they sang a very special A Capella rendition of Happy Birthday for the boy, bringing his mother to tears. These young men were not only gracious, they had ridiculous talent.
I hadn’t expected this treat and was unfortunately armed with the world’s worst camera phone. The group indulged me by allowing me to record a song. Naturally, my uncooperative phone/camera died less than halfway through. I kept my phone trained on them the entire time, even though I knew it had died. But here is what I did manage to capture. Keep in mind that this camera phone’s output quality rivals that of a 1989 8mm camcorder.
I only wish I could share the rest of that amazing performance. It was simply stunning.
Here’s a great video of Not Too Sharp and their rendition of Send Me On My Way:
UNH has some mad talent coming through.
