Boston Rock Opera’s Happening Holiday Special Brings Musicians Together for Hurricane Maria Relief

One Night Only! Boston Rock Opera is bringing together more than thirty performers from the Boston music scene to celebrate the holidays with music and laughter, while raising money for Hurricane Maria relief. December 16th, 2017 at ONCE Ballroom, 156 Highland Ave, Somerville, Massachusetts 02143. 8:30pm sharp. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. The show is suitable for all ages. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Purchase Tickets Via Ticketfly

The Show: It’s Christmas Eve as reclusive rock star Mick Mondo (BRO co-founder Mick Maldonado) sits alone by the fire, convinced that he’s been forgotten. Solstina the Solstice Goddess (Linda Viens) appears to remind him of the many reasons for the holiday season. While her intentions are good, the guests who perform classic Christmas songs remind him, and us, of the cultural shifts and uncertain times we live in. It takes a special performance by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and a return to the stage with Mondo’s band Streaker, to bring a bit of joy to the old rocker’s heart. Or does it? Find out in this original send-up of Made-for-TV Holiday Specials.

Once again, Boston Rock Opera has assembled some of the music scene’s best vocalists and musicians including Music Directors Peter Moore, Joshua Pickering, and Mick Maldonado, and vocalists John Powhida, Ali McGuirk, Ad Frank, Valerie Forgione, John Surette, Johnny Blazes, Gene Dante, Goddamn Glenn, Erica Mantone, Rod van Stoli, C. Moon Mullins and many more! After the show, DJ Jed Gottlieb will keep you dancing and enjoying the holiday spirits until last call.

In addition to raising funds for Hurricane relief via the One America Appeal for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, we ask that people bring a small gift for the children of Puerto Rico.

  • What a great event! I love the idea of the gift for the kids of Puerto Rico!

  • If I was in Boston I’d be there! This sounds amazing. And I like that they are raising funds for a worthy cause as well as asking for a small gift.

    • They’ve been able to raise a lot of money for causes in the past which is amazing. There’s going to be a huge turnout for this one!

  • Ethan

We are still in the recovery process here in Houston, so I know this goes for a great cause in Puerto Rico! They are still suffering even worse there. And it doesn’t hurt that the event sounds like a great time too!

    • I’v heard. I spent 10 years in H-town and I have a lot of friends there. I was there during Allison and I remember how the water rises so quickly. Houston is a bowl and it just fills. Hope all is well, Ethan!

  • Emily @ Paperback Princess

Sounds like a great initiative! I hope lots of money is raised 🙂

  • This is such a cool idea for an event! I hope it all goes well!!!

  • It sounds like a brilliant event Rebecca and such a worthwhile cause. It would be worth going just to hear the Muppet renditions. Do you know if it’ll be broadcast anywhere for international viewers?
