Guion the Lion: A Colorful World by Rebecca Wilson Macsovits Book Review

Guion the Lion: A Colorful World is a book about a lion named Guion that was full of color.  When he arrived at a strange land, he noticed there was no color.  However, as he helped people in need, his color was rubbing off on them.  It caused a chain reaction and the other animals started to help others and share each other’s colors.  The underlying message in this book is one of the best lessons to teach a child.  It expresses the golden rule: treat others how you would like to be treated.  It also teaches children to do good and spread their kindness to all they come across.

The concept of being colorful can mean many things.  This book uses it literally to portray their intended purpose.  Being colorful means living a full life of happiness.  Vibrant and rich are also great synonyms for being colorful.  The have a feeling of fulfillment, doing nice things for people and spreading the kindness that you hold in your heart will make it possible to live a happy, rich, and vibrant life.

This is a book that would be useful in classrooms when trying to convey the importance of helping others and being kind.  Especially with dealing with the bullying that seems to be the topic in many schools, it is a great way to teach kids to be a person who spreads their color and changes the bullies from wanting to be bullies.

It also teaches kids that the kindness does not stop at people who look like you and have things in common with you.  No matter who needs help, you should be kind to all.  Guion the lion helps all sorts of different types of animals along the way through the strange land.  The actual colors make this book very appealing to children and very entertaining.  It was a very creative way to explain this lesson to children.

Great way to show kids to help others!

This will be one of the first books I will read to my kids!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Such a creative way to show kids how helping others can make an impact.
